Fertility Tests

Advanced examinations

Examination for autoimmunity and thrombotic diathesis

Purpose

Antiphospholipid syndrome (an autoimmune disease) and protein S or protein C deficiency (a thrombotic diathesis) may affect fetal growth and development or lead to abnormal fetal circulation in early pregnancy. These conditions are one of the causes for recurrent miscarriage, premature delivery, and infertility.

Timing

Individuals undergone recurrent miscarriage and premature delivery or multiple IVF failures may consider to have the examination.

Method

Blood test (fasting not required)

A gentle reminder

  • 1There are many examinations associated with immunity. The current evidence from the literature only supports that the immunotherapy for antiphospholipid syndrome is beneficial to recurrent miscarriage. It remains controversial to treat the other abnormal results involved with immunity. Please feel free to discuss any questions about treatment with your attending physician.
  • 2According to the CCH research data of the thrombotic diathesis of Taiwanese women, protein S deficiency may be one of the reasons for pregnancy failure.
