Examination for chronic endometritis

Purpose

Chronic endometritis may be one of the causes for recurrent miscarriage, premature delivery, premature rupture of membranes, and infertility.

Timing

Individuals undergone recurrent miscarriage and premature delivery or multiple IVF failures may consider to have the examination.

Method

After a vaginal speculum is inserted to spread and hold open your vaginal walls, an aspiration tube with a diameter of approximately 0.2cm will be inserted through the cervix and entered into the uterus to retrieve the endometrial tissues into the specimen box. The entire examination will take less than 5 minutes only. The sampled endometrial tissues will be sent to the Department of Pathology at CCH for examination.

A gentle reminder

  • 1It is normal to have minimal bleeding of the vagina for 3 to 5 days after the examination.
  • 2Individuals diagnosed with chronic endometritis need to receive antibiotic treatment.
